Global workforce platform Deel has acquired identity security startup Clarity in an undisclosed transaction, marking the company's fifteenth acquisition as it expands its security infrastructure. Clarity's team has already joined Deel, bringing technology designed to continuously verify identity in response to increasingly sophisticated AI-powered fraud attempts.
Deel reported surpassing $1.5 billion in annual recurring revenue for the first half of 2026, a financial position the company says enables it to fund acquisitions in productivity tools and security infrastructure without taking on debt. The acquisition strategy reflects a broader push to build comprehensive platform capabilities rather than relying solely on third-party integrations.
Clarity was founded to address the growing challenge of identity verification as artificial intelligence makes fraudulent credentials and impersonation more convincing. The company's technology focuses on continuous verification throughout the employee lifecycle rather than one-time checks at onboarding. Deel plans to position identity verification as core platform infrastructure, building verification tools internally where feasible and partnering with external providers when necessary.
The acquisition directly impacts organizations using Deel's employer of record, managed payroll, and contractor hiring services, which will gain enhanced identity security capabilities. As remote and distributed workforces expand, identity verification has become a critical security layer for companies managing employees across multiple jurisdictions and regulatory environments.
Organizations using Deel should expect identity verification features to be integrated into existing workflows in coming months. Companies should review their current identity verification policies and prepare to adopt continuous verification practices as they become available. Deel recently launched on Microsoft Marketplace, allowing Azure and Microsoft 365 customers to deploy its services through existing procurement channels with spending counting toward Azure Consumption Commitments.
