IQM Quantum Computers has completed the acquisition of selected assets from Quantistry, a Berlin-based developer of cloud-based simulation workflow platforms, for an undisclosed sum. The acquired assets include proprietary software, intellectual property, algorithms, and Quantistry's core technical team specializing in quantum chemistry and software engineering. The deal aims to integrate Quantistry's application software platform with IQM's superconducting quantum hardware to create a comprehensive quantum computing solution for industrial clients.
Quantistry's platform serves multiple sectors including aerospace, automotive, materials, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals by providing cloud-based simulation capabilities. The company's technology uses machine learning and AI to enable users without specialized quantum computing expertise to create and simulate compounds efficiently. The platform automatically selects appropriate computational pathways and can route workflows across classical high-performance computing, AI environments, and quantum backends.
The technical integration will combine Quantistry's simulation algorithm libraries and machine learning features with IQM's quantum hardware infrastructure. This hybrid approach allows the merged entity to offer services spanning classical simulation, AI-driven optimization, and quantum computing through a single platform. The arrangement is designed to provide clients with continuously improving research and operational capabilities as quantum hardware technology advances.
The acquisition builds on a memorandum of understanding signed between the two companies in June 2024, which focused on exploring hybrid classical-quantum solutions for chemical and materials research challenges. IQM plans to transition Quantistry's existing industrial customer relationships under its brand, maintaining service continuity while expanding the combined technology offering. The deal follows IQM's recent merger with Real Asset Acquisition, which made it the first publicly listed quantum computer company from Europe on the Nasdaq Global Select Market.
Organizations using quantum computing or simulation platforms for research and development should evaluate how hybrid classical-quantum solutions might enhance their workflows. Companies in sectors served by Quantistry should monitor the transition of services under the IQM brand and assess potential benefits from the integrated hardware-software platform. Security teams should review any changes to cloud-based simulation infrastructure resulting from the merger to ensure continued compliance with data protection requirements.
