The White House has announced the creation of Gold Eagle, a new cybersecurity coordination group that combines AI-powered threat detection with public-private sector collaboration. Established through an executive order signed by President Donald Trump on June 2, the initiative aims to strengthen national cybersecurity defenses by sharing vulnerability intelligence and organizing joint responses across government agencies and critical infrastructure providers.
The coalition includes the White House, the Department of Homeland Security through the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, the Department of the Treasury, and the Department of War. Private sector participants include companies responsible for US critical infrastructure and open-source software development. The group operates using existing federal authority and resources while working directly with US technology companies.
Gold Eagle uses advanced AI systems to identify cyber vulnerabilities and coordinate responses. The model is designed to eliminate duplicate scanning efforts across different organizations and provide timely threat information to security teams defending both federal and private sector systems. The initiative has already begun receiving and prioritizing vulnerability reports across industry sectors, coordinating verification processes, and assisting with software and network security nationwide.
US Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent emphasized the program's focus on protecting financial institutions and closing vulnerabilities in the US financial system. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth described the initiative as bringing a wartime approach to cyber defense, stating that Gold Eagle serves as the vanguard of America's cyber defense by combining frontier AI with top American innovators.
The program forms part of the broader objectives outlined in Executive Order 14409, which calls for continued collaboration between government and industry to advance US innovation while maintaining the security of national systems. Organizations involved in critical infrastructure should monitor Gold Eagle announcements for vulnerability disclosures and participate in coordinated response efforts when applicable.
